Last weekend I went to York, SC to attend the engagement party of my pal Emily Bradford and her fiance Aaron. Emily moved to Alaska 3 years ago, leaving all of us in a state of sadness and despair. So, we were pretty happy to see each other Saturday.
Emily is one of the most unique people I have ever encountered. And I've learned a lot from her. In fact, I'll list a few.
1. It makes people feel happy when you refer to them as "friends."
2. Take risks with your wardrobe... really, Emily, this has made my students very happy... you were the inspiration for the crazy tights.
3. Push yourself to do things outside your comfort zone.
4. Life takes detours and you'll end up where you'll end up.
5. Real snail mail is far more fun when you create your own envelope.
6. Choose to be impressed with each person you meet.
7. When in doubt, stretch.
